    Obesity rates in New Zealand in all ages, genders and ethnicities have increased over the last 30 years (Ministry of Health, 2016b). The 2015/2016 New Zealand Health Survey identified that one in nine children aged 2-14 years are classed as obese (11% - an estimated 85,000 children): an increase from 8% in 2006/2007 (Ministry of Health, 2016a).
