    Around the 1980s research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) began, at this time researchers had little knowledge as to why babies were dying. It wasn’t until the early 1990’s that bed sharing in relation to infants sleep environment was exposed as a risk factor (Das, Sanker, Agarwal & Paul, 2014).
